Reporting on Vulnerabilities by Published Date

You can easily create reports including vulnerabilities based on their published date using dynamic search lists.

One common objective is to focus on vulnerabilities published within the last 30, 60 or 90 days. Another is to act upon vulnerabilities that are older than 90 days, because of the many exploits in the wild that leverage those vulnerabilities. You can run scan reports to meet these needs following these simple steps.

You'll need one or more search lists with the QIDs you would like to exclude from your report.

How do I create a search list? Go to VM/VMDR > KnowledgeBase > Search Lists and then select New > Dynamic List. Enter a search list title, click the List Criteria tab, scroll down to Published, select date filters and save the list.

The published date filters are:

Today. Select vulnerabilities published on the date the search is run.

In the Previous. Select vulnerabilities published in the previous week, month, quarter or year.

Within the Last. Select vulnerabilities published within a number of days.

Between. Select vulnerabilities published between specified dates using the date picker.

Select a report template that you want to configure to report on vulnerabilities by published date.

To create a new template go to VM/VMDR > Reports > Templates and select New > Scan Template.

To edit an existing template go to VM/VMDR > Reports> Templates, hover over a template and select Edit from the Quick Actions menu.

Using the report template wizard go to the Filter section. Under Selective Vulnerability Reporting select Custom. Select Exclude QIDs. Then click the Add Lists button and add your search list, and save the template.

Tip: If you want to report on vulnerabilities that are older than 90 days, create a search list with the published date filter set to Within the Last 90 days. For your report template, select the filter Exclude QIDs, add your search list, and save the template.

Just go to Reports > Templates, hover over the report template you configured, and then click Run.
